Writing Spaces

The time has come to say good-bye to one of my favorite writing spaces: my armchair. I’ve had it for 20 years. It started out as just a piece of living room furniture when I used to write at a desk chained to a desktop computer. However, once I got a laptop and wi-fi, I was free to sit and write anywhere in the house: the dining room table, the sofa and even the balcony on nice summer days, but it was in this armchair where I did the bulk of my writing. Magazine articles, the novel Guitar Hero, a play which is still a work-in-progress, research, blogs posts, query letters, those dreaded synopses, etc. were written in the creative cocoon of this chair often with a cup of tea on the side table. With classical music playing in the background and my butt comfortably set in the cushion, I often took a little involuntary snooze somewhere in between the letters A-Z.

Ah, the memories this chair holds, or should I say, the dreams (both literally and literary)?  It will soon be replaced by a newer, firmer model which I hope will see me through the next 20 years.

What is your favorite writing space?
